Marques Houston is clapping back at those who don’t agree with his marriage or views on women.
It was recently reported that the former Immature group member had married his wife Miya Dickey at 19 when he was 39.
“Me and my wife’s situation is a little different, how we met through mutual friends and everything like that,” Houston said in a preview clip for his TV One’s Uncensored episode.
He added, “When I met my wife, she was 17. So, we had no real conversation, no real connection until, you know, she was of age.”
Some didn’t appreciate his comments about women being too “independent” and suggested that women his age had “funky attitudes,” which added more fuel to the fire.
Shortly after, Immature band member Jerome “Romeo” Jones took to Instagram to apologize to fans for Houston’s “insensitive statements.”
However, Houston fired back at critics by blaming the media outlets for even covering the story.
“To all my fans, supporters, and real truth seekers, I can see how the media would love to pin people against people for monetary gain,” wrote Houston.
He added, “But when [you’re] at peace, loving life, and able to still make a positive impact in the entertainment world for over 2 decades, it’s so easy to move out the way and let bottom feeders eat. #Protectyourpeace I LOVE YOU ALL!”
