Edgar Gustavo Villamarin was sentenced to four years in state prison on Thursday.
The former Pasadena, California marriage and family therapist is accused of sexually abusing seven of his patients, People reported.
Villamarin, 66, will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Lisa Daruty said in a press release.
The abuse occurred between 2014-2018.
The ex-therapist pleaded no contest in September 2019 to all seven counts of the sexual abuse claims he was charged with.
He was arrested for the first time in November 2018 after a female patient said he sexually assaulted her during an appointment. A second victim came forward with a similar incident that occurred during his appointment in 2016.
Villamarin’s license to practice was still valid as of October 2020. Still, a judge has since barred him from engaging in any form of practice that requires a license, Pasadena Now reported.
