Beast Mode’s my guy I hate it had to be him…
Seattle Seahawks Running Back Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch doesn’t like to do too much talking… and it’s costing him a ton of money! Most recently $100,000, and according to an ESPN source, he will indeed have to pay it. Yikes!
Lynch has pretty consistently publicly opted out of speaking to the media for post-game interviews and press conferences, since he began gaining major attention during the Seahawks Super Bowl run last season. As to why Beast Mode prefers to stay silent? Well according to him: he’s “just bout’ that action!” That’s what Lynch told Deion Sanders, last year during the annual NFL Super Bowl Media Day. I’m sure that many of us can understand exactly how Lynch feels. Preferring for his talent to do all of the talking for him.
The NFL is definitely not among those that “understand.” Lynch took the huge fine, which was comprised of $50,000 from this season and $50,000 from last season (which upon agreement would have been held if he decided to speak to the media), back in November of 2014.
The fine stemmed directly from Lynch denying proper conversation with reporters in the regular season following one of his impeccable games against the Chiefs. Lynch did in fact meet with reporters following the game, but answered every question with a simple “yeah” and well…that didn’t satisfy the NFL’s taste. Likewise, Lynch’s recent request to have the fine rescinded wasn’t satisfied either.
Nonetheless, it seems to me like Lynch has had all intentions of continuing to be himself and back his beliefs in not needing to speak to the media; and he’ll do it with his teammates support. We’ll see if this heavy fine changes anything, when Lynch and the Seattle Seahawks play against the Carolina Panthers on Saturday January 10th.
