Well, it looks like ole Marty Mar is making a special appearance on the big screen. As the 30th year anniversary of the hit sitcom ‘Martin’ approaches, the all-star cast could not let it pass without rejoining for a reunion show.
The 30th reunion special will be airing this upcoming summer on BET+. The show will be hosted by comedian/actor Affion Crockett. Fans can expect to see appearances from the main cast: Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, Tichina Arnold, Carl Anthony Payne II, and other unnamed special guests. Unfortunately, Thomas Mikal Ford who played Tommy, passed away in 2016.
“To be able to sit here thirty years later with this amazing cast. That has had such an impact on pop culture is truly a blessing. I am always humbled that the fans still want more of the show and its characters. I am looking forward to the reunion special,” Lawerence says.
The reunion special produced by Jesse Collins Entertainment says it will feature, “interviews with the cast & original directors. It’ll have special musical performances and behind the scenes commentary. On the importance and impact of the show that shaped a generation.”
“Martin” debuted on FOX on August 27, 1992. The popular sitcoms ran for five seasons with 132 episodes. Lawrence co-created the show and starred as the main character, working as a DJ who turns into a talk show host.
