Marvel Studios Announces “Black Panther 2” Release Date, Ryan Coogler Returns As Director

Marvel has announced the long-anticipated release date for “Black Panther 2” at Disney’s D23 Expo.

The first Black Panther film was a massive hit and the biggest solo superhero movie for Marvel in the studios’ history. The Disney-Marvel movie won three Oscars for original score and production as well as costume designand has grossed more than $700 million since hitting theaters in February 2018, according to Box Office Mojo.

The sequel will see the return of many of our favorites including star Chadwick Boseman, Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira, and Martin Freeman. Marvel has yet to confirm whether the other notables like Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Winston Duke or Daniel Kaluuya will return but it’s still early.

Director Ryan Coogler, who will return as the writer and director, said at the Studio Panel At D23 that the team is “taking their time with it” in order to get it right.

“Black Panther 2” is expected to hit theaters on May 6, 2022.
