This year Mary J. Blige is showing out. The Queen’s blessings just keep coming, as they should.
For starters, there was her stellar Super Bowl LVI halftime show performance and the release of her 14th studio album, “Good Morning Gorgeous.”
And now, Atlanta has chosen to bestow the Queen of Hip Hop Soul with her very own “Strength of a Woman Day.”
The slogan was borrowed from Mary’s previous album. It marks the official kickoff to the Live Nation and Pepsi-sponsored “Strength of a Woman Festival & Summit” this Mother’s Day weekend, TMZ reported.
Thursday night’s celebration was star-studded. It included ATL City Councilwoman Keisha Sean Waites, who presented an award to Blige, as well as 2 Chainz, Kandi Burruss, celebrity stylist Misa Hylton and music exec Kenny Burns, who were there in her honor.
Mary will be performing this weekend. Chaka Khan, City Girls, Ella Mai, and a host of other women of color will also hit the stage. The festival will also have musical and technological workshops to help inspire and educate others.
And it doesn’t stop there for the queen. She will be receiving the Icon Award at Billboard Music Awards, which her longtime friend and mentor Diddy will be hosting.
Congrats MJB!
