Mary J. Blige recently appeared on The Sherri show, dropped some gems on forgiveness and moving on.
When Sherri asked her about her very public divorce from Kendu Isaacs and whether she’s ever found it in her heart to forgive, Mary explained that she did it for herself.
“What I learned is that forgiveness was for me. To hell with them,” Mary said, straight up. “I don’t like that ugly, bitter feeling—that’s not mine, that belongs to you. You did what you did, but I have to move on. In order for me to feel good and manifest all the good things in my life, I have to let you go… for me.”
Later, during the interview, Sherri wanted to know if Mary had anyone special she was walking in her joy with; she replied, “Yes, you know that, Sherri, everyone knows.” She added, “It’s going well because I’m doing well for myself. I feel good about me. I look good to me. I’m embracing me. When you embrace you, everything is embracing you. It’s going well because I’m not holding anyone accountable for making me feel good about me.”
It seems like Mary is in a great space, and we love to see it. She’s glowing and thriving, showing us all that self-love is the real key to happiness.
