Mary J. Blige is teaming up with Lifetime Network to serve as the executive producer for two new original movies.
According to Deadline, the films will draw inspiration from some of Mary’s biggest hits, “Strength of a Woman” and “Real Love.” The movies will be released on back-to-back Saturdays, beginning on June 10th.
“Real Love” follows 18-year-old Kendra as she navigates being a first-time college student while managing a relationship with her classmate, Ben, who influences her heavily. The two ultimately end up falling for each other and learn the meaning of “real love.”
The story of “Strength of a Woman” will continue from where “Real Love” left off and fast forward 15 years into the future. Kendra is now a successful photographer who finds herself in the middle of a failing marriage. Ben unexpectedly finds himself back into Kendra’s life, and she’s forced to make a tough decision.
In addition, Lifetime is partnering with Take Back The Night Foundation to endorse the new films. The foundation is a non-profit organization with a global reach that aims to put an end to all types of sexual violence.
Nevertheless, viewers can expect to see some of their favorites actors and actresses apart of the movies. Ajiona Alexus and Da’Vinchi will star as Kendra and Ben. Meanwhile, Princess Davis, Austin Anozie, Shiraine Haas and Garfield Wilson will also be apart of the cast.
