Coming off the success of Netflix’s ‘Mudbound’ film, singer-actress Mary J. Blige is reportedly headed back to the favorable streaming network.
According to Deadline, Blige will co-star in Netflix’s newest live-action series, ‘The Umbrella Academy’, which is based on Gerard Way’s popular comic books under the same name.
Written by Jeremy Slater, the forthcoming project centers a dysfunctional family of superheroes–known as the ‘Umbrella Academy’. Estranged but forced to rejoin after the death of their father, the clan embarks on a mission to solve their father’s inexplicable demise. However, the task at hand becomes far more difficult than expected, as personalities clash and the road to the finish line starts to crumble.

‘The Umbrella Academy’ is executive produced by Steve Blackman, Bluegrass Television, and Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg.
