Maryland Woman Dies After Traveling To Queens, NY For Butt Injections

No matter how many stories of fatalities from botched butt shots plague the internet, women still choose this cheap method of enhancement over seeing a licensed doctor. Unfortunately, butt injections have claimed the life of another. 

34 year old Kelly Mayhew, who worked as a freelancer with BET, traveled to Far Rockaway, Queens with her mother on May 30th to get butt injections. The procedure was done in a basement apartment in Queens and after the alleged suspect began injecting the silicone substance, Mayhew began having difficulty breathing. Mayhew’s mother, Latrice, began performing CPR and someone else in the basement called 911. The unlicensed woman who administered the procedure  panicked and fled the scene. Police are still searching for her. 

“I thought she was a doctor and certified,” Kelly Mayhew’s mother said. She also notes that Kelly has had previous procedures done to her buttocks. A spokesperson for BET, where Kelly worked as a freelancer,  issued a statement after her death. “We are saddened by the death of our colleague and friend, Kelly Mayhew. Our hearts go out to her family, and we extend our deepest sympathies for their loss.”

The owner of the Queens home says the tenant of the basement apartment was a female nurse’s aide or nurse’s assistant and NOT a licensed doctor. “There’s no doctor over there,” a neighbor said. She also said she’s surprised anyone would go to the house for a medical procedure. “Yes, of course, I’m very surprised, because there’s no doctor, no nurse living over there. No one over there with any medical background.”
