A Massachusetts woman allegedly unleashed thousands of bees on officers because they were trying to evict someone from their home.
In an attempt to block Hampden County Sheriff deputies from evicting a Longmeadow resident, 55-year-old Rorie Woods of Hadley turned loose a slew of bees onto officers.
The incident took place on Oct. 12, Yahoo! News reports. According to law enforcement, Woods drove up to the home in her SUV, with stacked apiaries on top of its flatbed trailer. Before freeing the bees by destroying the top of one of the apiaries, she protected herself by putting on a beekeeper’s suit. She eventually let another box of bees loose.
One of the bees stung a deputy on the face and head. Yahoo! News reports that several cops were injured, and one was hospitalized. She’s now being accused of “weaponizing honeybees to attack.” One of the deputies claims they told Woods that some of them were allergic to bees, and her reply allegedly was, Oh, you’re allergic? Good.” Woods’s attorney says those claims are untrue.
Woods was charged with seven counts of felony assault and one count of misdemeanor battery. She’s pleaded not guilty.
