Master P is undoubtedly one of the biggest trailblazers in hip hop and has had one of the longest and most successful runs in entertainment. So it’s to no surprise that the New Orleans legend would want to share his life story with the world and according to him, it’s a big deal…literally.
Master P shared on Instagram that he signed a new deal with #Lionsgate to produce his biopic. He revealed that he signed “one of the biggest deals with Lionsgate” to produce his upcoming biopic, ‘King Of The South: Ice Cream Man’ and he enlisted the writer for ‘Menace II Society,’ Tyger Williams, to write the script.
His Instagram post read, “Today we made history! Signed one of the biggest deals with LionsGate for the Master P biopic ‘King of the South IceCream Man.’ Salute to the kings that came before me Lil J, Uncle Luke, and Tony Draper. God is good to be able to be alive and tell your story and have it written by Tyger Williams who did Menace to society. Movies…Movies…Movies.”
The biopic will chronicle the No Limit Records mogul’s childhood, the journey of his music career, his adulthood, No Limit Records, and how his hustle and drive contributed to him becoming one of the biggest southern artists of all time.
Although no release date has been determined, Master P told #XXL, ”To still be able to be alive and partner with a major film company [Lionsgate] is definitely history. To be the first time to have a story come from the South and to have an effect on hip-hop, we changed the game and showed you how to make money from the product.”
