Master P is preparing to take his final music bow at Essence Festival, but off-stage, he’s been focused on something deeper: family.
“I’m learning there’s no perfect parent and I’m still learning parenthood even though my kids are older,” he shared with People. Once focused on providing everything, Master P admits, “I also have to be a better communicator with my kids.”
Following daughter Tytyana’s tragic fentanyl overdose in 2022, the pain still lingers.
“You never get over that…my daughter’s my parachute.” Her passing inspired the You Are Not Alone Foundation to support others dealing with loss.
He and Romeo had public fallout, but that’s healed.
“Everything is good now… I learned a lot from my son.” Father and son now prioritize growth and communication.
Master P emphasizes tough love for his younger children, stating, “I didn’t give ‘em nothing… we got to teach our kids hard work.”
He’s also embracing mental health, noting, “Mental illness is real… I’ve never been to counseling. I never sat down and talked to people about that.” Now, he’s breaking that silence with Team Hope in New Orleans.
“I want to listen more,” he says. “How do we change lives?”
