Following the news of Kendrick Lamar headlining the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show in New Orleans, Master P is urging the NFL to incorporate Lil Wayne as well.
The No Limit founder took to Instagram to congratulate Lamar on the honor while highlighting the need for Wayne, a native of the city that is hosting next year’s game.
“Salute to @kendricklamar for performing at the halftime show at Super Bowl LIX.. well deserved, he’s one of the hottest music artists in the world and has one of the biggest songs right now,” P stated, adding, “As Ambassador of Entertainment in the City of New Orleans I have to agree with the fans that @liltunechi #LilWayne should be a part of this celebration as well. He’s one of the greatest Hop Hop artists alive, still relevant and he’s a New Orleans native. Let’s not miss this cultural moment in the South.”
Days ago, Mayor LaToya Cantrell crowned P New Orleans’ entertainment ambassador. The role is meant to unite natives with various realms of TV, film, music, and more. The 54-year-old hopes to use this title and ties to his hometown to ensure that Wayne is a part of the Super Bowl celebration. The Young Money founder also expressed interest in performing.
“Life is too short! We have to give our legends their flowers while they are here,” P concluded his post, tagging the NFL, Mayor Cantrell, and Jay-Z, whose Roc Nation produces the halftime show.
Wayne’s longtime engineer, Fabian Marasciullo, also believes he deserves to perform during Super Bowl LIX.
“Confused. Disappointed. Angry. But most of all. Inspired. Will never again be in a position or have the [goat emoji] in a position where we are at the mercy of someone else’s decision. We will make the decisions,” he wrote in an Instagram Story post.
Wayne has not responded publicly about the matter.
