After some looming legal action, Snoop Dogg and Master P are moving forward with their cereal line with an all-new name.
Originally called Snoop Loopz, the rappers face pushback over the name. Though it was never specified what type of legal retribution, it could have something to do with the name being similar to Fruit Loops, which is owned by Kellogg’s. The rappers refused to let this stop their food dreams, rebranding as Snoop Cereal.
“We’ve built a national brand and disrupted the cereal industry. We did it with hard work and integrity. I know they’re uncomfortable and scared,” the rappers said in a joint statement released to Instagram.
Snoop Cereal is a collaborative effort with Broadus Foods and Post Cereals, which will manufacture their new breakfast meal. The inaugural flavors include Frosted Drizzlers, Fruity Hoopz with marshmallows, and Cinnamon Toasteez. Master P says this new brand is not about them slapping their name on a box but more about creating generational wealth through
“Thanks to Post for looking at diversity. We own this company. No, it’s not just us putting our name on this. We’re going to pass this down from generation to generation. We talking about generational wealth.”
The cereal will also be available for WIC users, the country’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children.
Neither Snoop nor Master P is new to the food industry. Master P co-founded Rap Snacks, bringing his longtime friend along as an ambassador. In addition to cereal, Broadus Foods also has a line of maple syrup. Snoop even released his own cookbook available on Amazon.
Fans can get their hands on Snoop Cereal starting in June 2023.
