One year after facing a lawsuit over Beyoncé’s name and likeness, the superstar singer’s father is firing back with new docs in the suit.
According to the @blast, it all started back in 2017, when Knowles was hit with a $50,000 lawsuit by his former lawyers for his failure to pay back creditors for their participation in Knowles’ alleged silent auction of Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child memorabilia. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However, Knowles denied the claims and fired back with a counter-suit for defamation. Although he did admit to holding the auction during the 2017 Super Bowl Weekend, he says it was for athletic and sports items, not Beyoncé memorabilia.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As a result, Knowles demanded $2 million in damages from his former lawyers at Lang Ferrer PLLC, as he claimed their claims made its rounds in the press.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However, since then, the former manager has filed new docs in the case against Lang Ferrer PLLC for their alleged actions prior to the lawsuit. In the docs obtained by the publication, Knowles claims the lawyers threatened to make things “ugly for him,” if he did not cough up the money for what Knowles described as “excessive and unreasonable” legal bills. But, since Knowles refused to pay, he says the lawyers spread “an absolute lie” about his auction and his alleged refusal to pay his creditors, which ultimately cost him a pretty penny.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In fact, according to the @blast, Knowles claims several companies refused to do business with him over the law firm’s claims. Knowles says the lies cost him a $175 million deal with Port Royal Resort, as well as a professorship with Texas Southern University, which reportedly cited the auction in its reasoning to pass up on the businessman.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now, Knowles wants the lawsuit to proceed with his counter-suit in place.
