Memphis Grizzlies guard Matt Barnes has been suspended two games for his role in a confrontation with New York Knicks coach Derek Fisher.
If you recall back on October 3, Fisher and Barnes were involved in a physical altercation in Los Angeles at the home of Barnes’ ex Gloria Govan.
Govan is rumored to be dating Derek Fisher and Barnes denies that he drove to Govan’s home to confront Fisher over his romantic relationship with his ex. According to Barnes, he went to Gloria’s home to check on his twin sons after speaking with them via text and FaceTime and sensing they were uncomfortable with Fisher being at their home. Barnes said one of the twins told him that “Mommy’s friend Derek is here.”
When Barnes drove to Govan’s home, which is 15 minutes away, things escalated and got physical between the two men. Police were called but no charges filed.
Matt Barnes’ suspension will take place immediately. Barnes will be out Tuesday against the Miami Heat and Saturday agsinst the Utah Jazz.
