Congressman Matt Gaetz has been exposed for having sex with a minor by his close friend and confidant Joel Greenberg.
Greenberg’s confession letter, which was written towards the end of Donald Trump’s presidency, claims that he and Gaetz paid to have sex with a 17-year-old girl, as well as several other women. Greenberg said that he and his former friend had sex with the girl “on more than one occasion.”
“From time to time, gas money or gifts, rent or partial tuition payments were made to several of these girls, including the individual who was not yet 18,” Greenberg wrote. He confirmed that he witnessed Venmo and Cash App transactions made to the teen and other women.
Greenberg penned the letter while under federal indictment. During this time, he and Roger Stone exchanged a series of messages via the encrypted messaging app, Signal. Greenberg confessed that his former lawyers knew of Gaetz and him sleeping with the teenager in one of those messages.
“They know he paid me to pay the girls and that he and I both had sex with the girl who was underage,” he wrote.
In his letter, Greenberg wrote that both he and Gaetz initially believed that the underage girl was 19 at the time. However, an “anonymous tip” on September 4th, 2017, confirmed that she was not of legal consenting age. He claims that he immediately alerted Gaetz, who was “equally shocked and disturbed by this revelation.” Greenberg alleges that he confronted the girl, who revealed her actual age, and apologized for lying. He says that they had no further contact with the minor. However, about five months after the girl turned 18, Gaetz sent Greenberg $900 in two Venmo transactions. Almost six hours later, Greenberg paid her and two other women a total of $900. He also admitted to paying college students for sex on Gaetz’s behalf.
Gaetz has not been charged with any crimes by federal prosecutors. He acknowledges the investigation but denies having sex with the teenager.
