Matthew Lawrence gushes about his girlfriend Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, whom he describes as “very, very special.”
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight last Friday, the “Boy Meets World” actor revealed details about his encounter with the TLC singer and revealed their plans for having children in the future.
“My life is in complete bloom right now. I get to spend time with an amazing woman like Chilli,” he said. “I’ve never gotten to be able to experience that kind of relationship before. She’s really, really special.”
When questioned by Deidre Behar of ET about their plans for having children soon, Lawrence replied, “That’s the goal. That’s what we’re aiming for.”
In 2022, Lawrence and Chilli started a romantic relationship around Thanksgiving, following their prior encounter on a Hawaii beach in August. The couple first met at the ’90s Con event in March of the same year.
Nonetheless, Lawrence disclosed that they could have easily missed their chance at a romantic encounter had it not been for a severe snowstorm that caused them to be on the same flight.
“Really it was the flight talking and then afterwards saying, ‘hey, you know what? Let’s keep in contact,’ and it almost did not happen,” the actor added.
In January, Chilli’s representative Christal Jordan confirmed to PEOPLE that her client was in a relationship with Matthew. Jordan expressed, “I’ve been working with Chilli since 2005, and I’ve never seen her so deeply in love.”
The news of Lawrence’s relationship with Chilli surfaced a little more than three months after his divorce from Cheryl Burke was finalized. Lawrence, who was married to Burke for almost three years, had the divorce paperwork filed against him by Burke in February 2022. The official date of their separation was listed as January 7, 2022.
In addition, Lawrence opened up to the outlet about his divorce.
“It tested me and I learned so much about myself,” Lawrence said. “And I’m so thankful and blessed for the opportunity to grow and that’s what came out of it.”
