Matthew McConaughey is criticizing Hollywood elites for being hypocritical when it comes to their ultra-liberal stance.
The actor appeared on Russell Brand’s podcast “Under The Skin” and asked the host if he also saw Hollywood condemn and criticize “ordinary working people” for their political views.
“There are a lot [of people] on that illiberal left that absolutely condescend, patronize, and are arrogant towards the other 50%,” he said.
McConoughey made a point that back in 2016, liberals refused to accept Trump’s presidential win, but now those same people are bashing Trump supporters for refusing to accept Biden’s win.
“I’m sure you saw it in our industry when Trump was voted in four years ago, they were in denial that was real. Some of them were in absolute denial,” he said. “[Now] it looks like Biden’s our guy. Now you’ve got the right that’s in denial.”
McConaughey said he hopes the two extreme sides can meet in the middle.
“I almost feel like it’s a move to say, ‘Let’s get aggressively centric. I dare you,'” he said.
