Neuroscientist and actress Mayim Bialik will take over as host of Jeopardy!, following Mike Richards’ swift departure.
“She is currently scheduled to tape three weeks of episodes (15 episodes) when production resumes this week, a spokesperson for Sony said. “As we move forward with production on this season of Jeopardy!, additional guests hosts will be announced.”
Bialik played Amy Farrah Fowler on CBS sitcom “The Big Bang Theory.”
Last week, Jeopardy!’s executive producer and announced host Mike Richards stepped down after clips from his “The Randumb Show” podcast resurfaced.
Richards can be heard in one clip asking a woman if she has ever taken a nude photograph. He also made anti-Semitic remarks and used derogatory terms to refer to little people and individuals with mental disabilities.
The Anti-Defamation League is calling for an investigation into Richards’ actions.
“Looking back now, there is no excuse, of course, for the comments I made on this podcast and I am deeply sorry,” Richards said in a statement to PEOPLE.
The 38th season of the hit game show will premiere on September 13, 2021.
