This is not a drill. McDonald’s Spicy Chicken McNuggets are returning to a menu near you.
Initially introduced in September 2020, the popular breaded chicken bites marked the first new McNugget flavor in the U.S. since the item was originally introduced in 1983. McDonald’s credited the nuggets with helping boost sales during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite being a customer favorite, the nuggets were only available for a limited time.
Now, the restaurant chain has brought back the tender, all-white meat nuggets to nearly half of its U.S. locations this week.
“At McDonald’s, we’re always listening to what our customers crave,” said Ned Stagg, a McDonald’s Owner/Operator.
The reintroduction of the Spicy McNuggets coincides with the return of Mickey D’s Szechuan sauce, which appeared back on menus on March 31st. The dipping blend consists of soy, garlic, ginger, and mild vinegar notes, pairing well with the flavorful chicken snack, perfect for foodies with a palette for well-seasoned spiciness and a touch of sweetness.
As of now, there is no indication of when the nuggets will be disappearing again. Therefore, customers are encouraged to get their hands on them quickly, as supplies are going fast. For newbies who’ve never experienced the greatness that is the Spicy Chicken McNuggets, try a six-piece for starters, though we can guarantee that you’ll be back for more.
