Meagan Good Opens Up About How Hollywood Has Evolved Over The Years: “We’re Seeing More Diversity, Which is Great”

Just ahead of the highly anticipated release of Deon Taylor’s “The Intruder,” actress Meagan Good chopped it up with Baller Alert to plug the film. During the discussion, Good opened up about her longstanding career and how her experience as a child star in Hollywood has evolved as an adult in the ever-changing industry.

“We’re seeing more diversity, which is great,” Good said. “When I did ‘Deception,’ I was the second black woman to be a lead on a tv show on NBC in 30 years after Diane Carol. That year, I looked around, and It was like Kerry Washington’s second season on ‘Scandal,’ ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ happened the next year, “Empire” had just started and I was like ‘This is amazing, to see all of us kinda get an opportunity to not just be on a show but to be leads of tv shows.”

“We definitely made some great progress,” Good continued. “We still have a ways to go, but it’s fun to be old enough and young enough to understand and be able to kind of play in the space and be a part of it.”

Good also opened up about her marriage to Devon Franklin and how his life and strong faith has affected her career.

“the crazy thing is, I think more about him,” Good said. “He’s like ‘Do it,’ he’s really really supportive and amazing. He knows that this was my career before we got together. For him, it’s not about changing me or having me compromise any art. It’s about supporting me and loving me and between us, we figure out organically what feels right.”

“That hasn’t changed much of it at all,” she continued. “it just made me a little bit more conscious of scenes that are intimate like who is about their craft and who’s serious about making a great project and making an authentic relationship and if we’re working in that space of intimacy, making sure those are the kind of people that I’m working with.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Good also spilled a little tea about the film, saying, “It’s crazy.”

“It’s thriller, psychological thriller,” Good continued. “Everybody loses their mind. People are like screaming at the screen, and like going off, it’s a fun movie.”
