On Thursday, Meek Mill was set and scheduled to visit the White House to talk prison reform.
According to CNBC, the Celebrity-in-Chief hosted a Prison Reform Summit at the presidential residence to address prison conditions and reformation. Although the summit was set to include 100s of activists, experts and members of Congress, several celebrities advised Meek to pass up on the opportunity, despite his passion for the subject.

Less than 12 hours later, Meek pulled out of the summit after a late-night call from Jay-Z.

According to TMZ, Jay, who has been an integral part of Meek’s fight for justice, called the Philly-bred rapper to let him know that meeting with Trump is bad for business. Not only would it be damaging to his image, but also to the cause that is so near and dear to his heart, Jay reportedly explained.

“I was originally scheduled to be part of a panel on Prison Reform at the White House to help shed light on the issue within the system. Unfortunately, the focus turned to the President and Myself which concerned me that it might take away from creating a positive result from today’s discussion,” Meek said in a statement to TMZ. “As a result, I decided not to attend so that the focus would be solely on fixing our prison system. Most importantly I remain fully committed to improving our criminal justice system.”
