Meek Mill wasted no time chiming in after word broke that Shannon Sharpe had been let go from ESPN.
“Y’all too old to be getting fired fr……” Meek tweeted in response to a post about the network’s decision to part ways with the Hall of Famer. The Philly rapper’s blunt take instantly caught fire, setting off conversations online about age, accountability, and professionalism.
The firing comes after Sharpe settled a sexual assault lawsuit filed in Nevada. Earlier this month, attorney Tony Buzbee, who represented the plaintiff, issued a statement confirming the case had been resolved.
“After protracted and respectful negotiations, we have reached a mutually agreed‑upon resolution. All matters have now been addressed satisfactorily, and the matter is closed. The lawsuit will thus be dismissed with prejudice.”
Sharpe, who had been a central figure on ESPN programming, denied the allegations from the beginning. He called the lawsuit a “shakedown” in a video shared on Twitter, and his legal team described the claims as “meritless.”
Speaking on his “Nightcap” podcast, Sharpe addressed the situation directly.
”Obviously, I’m sure everybody’s heard the news by now that I will not be returning to ESPN,” he said. “I found out this information a little earlier in the week and really the only thing that I really ask is like, guys, could we wait until Monday. My brother’s going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I really wanted it to be about him and I wanted it to be about my family.”
