Tasha Marbury is the latest person to join the Basketball Wives cast. Some of you may not be familiar with who she is, So I’ve put together a few bullet points to bring you up to speed before the season 5 premiere on Monday, August 19th.

Before we discuss Tasha, lets begin with her husband Stephon Marbury. 

Stephon Marbury is a former NBA basketball player who was with the league from 1996-2009. He’s played with the Timberwolves, Nets, Knicks and Celtics.  At one point he had it all. He was a star athlete, had his own affordable shoe line and everything seemed great. Then before you know it he was going crazy, having meltdowns and eating Vaseline.

In 2010 Stephon’s career lead him to China where he began playing for the Beijing Ducks. The Chinese seem to like him. They built a statue in his likeness but he never quite got back the respect he deserved in the United States. Attempting to beef with Jay Z didn’t help.

Now let’s meet Tasha, a veteran basketball wife whose high-profile husband with one of the sport’s most successful players is not without its perils. Between tabloid reports of her husband’s alleged infidelities and new battles with a stranger who’s taking her on online, she’s had her share of trouble recently. She’s undoubtedly a dividing presence within the circle, as her high society persona and low tolerance for tomfoolery quickly lead to friction with certain ladies within the group. She’s an entrepreneur whose reach has extended from children’s clothing to an NYC-based weave salon, and she shows no signs of slowing down.
