Megan Thee Stallion has been very busy this year, from releasing her new album “Good News” to the news that she was nominated for four Grammys and her Fashion Nova collaboration release. Now comes word her collab with the fashion brand is being accused of stealing designs.
According to TMZ, the 106 piece collaboration brought in an estimated $1.2 million in sales in just the first 24 hours of availability.
Meg directly addressed the allegations that some of the designs lacked originality in a Morning Hustle interview on Tuesday.
When speaking on the design in question, Megan pointed out that it’s been a frequently reinvented staple for years.
“It’s been a dress that has been done a lot over the years,” she said. “So I feel bad that, you know, people’s initial reaction would be to just come at me like ‘Oh, you a Black woman. You stealing from Black women’ and I’m like, damn, hold on, sis. I don’t know you.”
The “Body” rapper conceded that if there had been a “real misunderstanding,” she would have had no problem addressing it. Megan admitted she would have given the money to the designer if an actual issue had been brought forth.
