On Tuesday, the Megan Thee Stallion learned that a Hottie called Shaniah had died abruptly last week and that her family was having financial difficulties paying for her funeral. The story was spread by Twitter user @Selenachichis, who sought out Megan for help.
“Meg we lost a hottie our best friend passed away unexpectedly,”@Selenachichis wrote. “They absolutely loved you, listening to ur songs was something we did every time we were together. We’re helping their family w funeral costs. We started a gofundme & are halfway there. @theestallion.”
The GoFundMe account, which has a $16,000 goal, was started three days ago. Megan’s generous $8,155 donation, which she shared on Twitter with a flurry of blue heart emojis, helped to achieve that goal on Tuesday night.
The crowdfunding effort had received a total of $16,130 in contributions as of press time, which will go toward helping Shaniah’s family pay for the memorial service.
@Selenachichis told Complex, “This has been incredibly overwhelming, and we are so grateful to Meg.” She explained, “Last week, one of my closest friends, Shaaniah, passed away unexpectedly. Shocked and perplexed, two of Shaniah’s other best friends and I banded together to assist Shaniah’s family with the funeral arrangements. For the funeral, a Gofundme page was set up almost immediately, but the expense of everything continued to rise. It was going to cost 16k between the cemetery and the funeral home, and we had only gotten to around 7600 and had used up all of our resources.” She said, “Shaniah and I always listened to Meg together and talked about her. We are such huge fans, and I thought I would take a leap and see if we could reach her and just have her rt the gofundme link to reach more people for any possible help with donations. We all came together and asked everyone to tag Meg in hopes of reaching her, and somehow it worked.”
