Megan Thee Stallion is getting support from the Southern Black Girls & Women’s Consortium after days of criticism from fans and her peers alike.
The Southern Black Girls & Women’s Consortium, a philanthropist collective that advocates for the betterment of Black women, penned an open letter to the “Savage” rapper following a suspected Drake diss on his new joint album with 21 Savage. The letter was signed by several prominent Black women, including activist Angela Rye, Planned Parenthood CEO Alexis McGill Johnson, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, and activist Tamika Mallory. Each signee praised Meg for her resilience and encouraged her to keep pushing despite the constant attacks.

“It must be said that our culture has failed you, one of its most brightly shining daughters. In July of 2020, you experienced a violation of the highest order at the hands of someone whom you considered a friend,” the letter read.
Since the 27-year-old revealed that Tory Lanez shot her during an argument in a vehicle two years ago, many have called Meg’s story into question. While plenty of people have stood by her, Lanez’s fans and friends in the music industry have slammed her, even accusing the Grammy award winner of making up the entire incident.
The Consortium’s support aligns with the timing of the alleged Drake diss on the track “Circo Loco,” where he rapped, “This b***h lie about getting shots, but she still a stallion.” Fans of Aubrey defended him, claiming that he was not referring to Meg. He has yet to clarify whether or not the bar had a different meaning. The Houston MC slammed him and others for using the shooting for clout.
“You are not alone. You are believed, loved, and supported. We stand with you, Megan,” the letter concluded.
Tory Lanez will stand trial on November 28th on charges of felony assault. He is facing 23 years behind bars if convicted.
