Megan Thee Stallion is gearing up to release her long-awaited self-titled album, and fans are eager to know which direction the rapper is taking.
The rollout seemingly kicked off with the snaked-themed video for “Cobra” in November 2023. She followed up with “Hiss” in January 2024, including serpent components. Her two album covers were unveiled in June 2024, showing Meg transforming into a butterfly and emerging from an egg, leading the Hotties to become even more curious about the essence of the project, which will arrive on Friday, June 28th.
Many suspect that Meg will also incorporate anime somehow. This is due to Meg being a longtime lover of Japanese art. In March 2024, she even presented during the Crunchyroll Anime Awards.

The visual for “BOA” in May 2024 was based heavily on Japanese video games. With so much emphasis on the genre and the cosplay surrounding it, it came as no surprise that Meg tapped Japanese rapper Yuki Chiba for the track “Mamushi,” which will be included on the “MEGAN” album. While she may have some Asian influences, the Houston star has hinted that she plans to experiment with several sounds on Friday’s release.
“I don’t want to say I’m tapping into other genres. I’m just tapping into other sounds. But it’s still very much Megan Thee Stallion. It won’t feel like I went so left. It’ll feel true to me. You’ll almost be like, ‘I wouldn’t have thought she would’ve rapped over that, but this sounds great,’” she explained in a May 2024 interview with L’OFFICIEL, later acknowledging her love for rock as well, which will likely be heard on the album.
After that interview, Meg kept further details of the project mostly under wraps as she continues traveling the nation with GloRilla. However, we do know that Victoria Monét and UGK will also make appearances on the 18-track album, which will serve as the follow-up to 2022’s “Traumazine.”
