Real Hot Girl Sh*t!
Rapper Megan Thee Stallion is making history yet again, as she announced earlier this morning that she is one of the three stars to cover the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2021 issue.
It won’t surprise anyone that she will be the first rapper and the second musical artist to ever grace the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine since Beyonce in 2007.
Meg is shown wearing a stunning zipped nude bikini from her new Fashion Nova swimwear collection on the cover.
“Thee first female rapper on the cover of @si_swimsuit,” Megan wrote on Instagram. “I want to thank all the strong women in my life who inspired me to love my body and live my best hot girl life. It means the world to me to be on this cover DREAM COME TRUE!!”
Page Six broke the news earlier this month that the rapper would grace the prestigious cover.
Sources said that “She’s the biggest star [right now], so it’s a no-brainer, and they love surprises.”
This year’s issue is also different in other ways: tennis superstar Naomi Osaka is one of SI Swim’s other cover stars, as is Leyna Bloom, the magazine’s first transgender model of color.
Yumi Nu, the brand’s first Asian curve model, and COVID nurse Maggie Rawlins are also featured in the publication.
SI Swim’s editor-in-chief, MJ Day, said in a statement, “We have three inherently different cover models that come together to tell a story rooted in female empowerment, setting a reminder that beauty comes in many forms.” He praised Megan as “a magnetic powerhouse taking the world by storm.” She added, “Our cover stars alongside the other incredible women featured in the issue, represent some of the most powerful voices of today.”
Meg’s Sports Illustrated cover issue will be available for purchase on July 22.
