Meghan Markle says her shared Netflix story with her husband, Prince Harry, may not at all be what viewers think they are going to see.
A docuseries that will focus on the relationship between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and the royal family has been pushed back following a backlash against a plot line in Season 5 of “The Crown.” There’s no release date yet, but Markle says fans can expect to see nothing as they expected in the series, which is directed by Oscar-nominated director Liz Garbus.
“It’s nice to be able to trust someone with our story — a seasoned director whose work I’ve long admired — even if it means it may not be the way we would have told it,” Meghan told Variety in a recent interview. “But that’s not why we’re telling it. We’re trusting our story to someone else, and that means it will go through their lens.”
She didn’t share any specific details about the docuseries but mentioned in a previous interview with The Cut that the series is incredibly done.
“What’s so funny is I’m not trying to be cagey,” said Markle. “I don’t read any press. So I don’t know what’s confirmed. I will tell you, Liz Garbus is incredible.” The series comes as part of a multi-year deal the two signed with Netflix back in 2020.
