Three men have been arrested in the connection to the shooting death of Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay’s 15 year old daughter in Lexington, KY.
As we previously reported, Trinity Gay was fatally shot Sunday morning when a shoot out between two vehicles broke out. Gay was struck in the neck and transported to the hospital where she later passed away.
38-year-old Chazerae Taylor and his son, 19-year-old D’Markeo Taylor, were arrested and charged with wanton endangerment. The man they were shooting at, 21-year-old D’Vonta Middlebrooks, was also arrested and charged with wanton endangerment and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
A hearing for the three men is scheduled Monday afternoon at Fayette County District Court.
The Gay family released a statement regarding the death of young Trinity.
“The family appreciates the outpouring of support during the loss of our beautiful Trinity. She will be truly missed by all. She touched so many people on so many different levels. We ask for your continued prayers and privacy during this difficult time.”
They added, “We are a family that believes in love and forgiveness. We are also asking for prayers for the 3 men accused and their families during what is also a difficult time for them.”
Authorities say they are still actively investigating the incident. Here’s to hoping they increase the charges.
