A Tampa Lyft driver was kidnapped and held at gunpoint for 11 hours, authorities say.
The incident occurred around 11pm on Tuesday. The driver picked up the four suspects when one suspect sat in the front seat of the vehicle, flashed a gun, and told him, “You’re working for us tonight.” The four men forced the driver to chauffeur them around 30 different locations as they committed numerous retail thefts and drug transactions. At each stop, one of the men would make sure to stay in the car.
The suspects weren’t that bright, however. While driving, they would type addresses into the driver’s GPS app on his cell phone and tell him to go to that location. They also used the driver’s cell phone to take pictures of themselves. One of them even used the driver’s cell phone to post the pictures on his Facebook page.
The incident ended around 10am Wednesday morning when the driver dropped the men off on East Diana Street. The men warned the driver that if he called the police, they would kill him. The driver flagged down a police officer anyway and two of the suspects, Aaron Diggs, 18 and Willie Brown III, 18,  were arrested at a nearby basketball court. Tampa police are still searching for the other two men. Diggs and Brown are being held on $100,000 bail.
