Man Posing as UPS Worker Robbed and Held Up Elderly Couple at Gunpoint

A man who disguised himself as a UPS deliveryman held a family at gunpoint while robbing and invading their home.

Children were left scared and “physically shaking” after the fake UPS worker and an accomplice held them and their grandparents at gunpoint in their Bronx home. The New York Post reports that the incident occurred at around 5 p.m. on Monday at the Billingsley Terrace apartment complex in Morris Heights.

The man arrived at the older couple’s home wearing a “UPS” hat while holding a box. The older couple is in their 60s, and their grandchildren were 5 and 8. They knocked [another door] first, and they didn’t open, so they came over here,” said the couple’s 30-year-old son, who is also the children’s uncle. “They said some name that my mom didn’t know, so she cracked the door, and when they saw my mom’s age, they just pushed in immediately.”

“He rushed her with the box first and then the gun came out right after,” their son went on. Once the man got inside, his accomplice came in after. “Don’t say anything, don’t do anything so we can get done quick,” said one of the suspects allegedly. The men robbed the family of two iPhones, an iPad and a bundle of personal documents. The news outlet reports that they also took more than $7,500 in cash from a piggy bank meant for the children.

Despite the tragic event, the family says it will move forward with its holiday plans. “We’re still opening our presents at midnight on Christmas. We’re all going to still sit down to Christmas dinner together. Whatever, I’m not going to let them ruin my family and my kids’ Christmas. It ain’t right — people think this is OK now,” says the couple’s son. Police are still looking for the men.
