Method Man Details Why He “Intentionally” Chose Not To Watch Hulu’s Wu-Tang Series: “I Did Not Want To Mess With Their Process” [Audio]

Despite being one of the most identifiable MCs in the Wu-Tang Clan, Method Man recently disclosed that he hasn’t viewed a single episode of Hulu’s series, Wu-Tang: An American Saga.

During a recent episode of Kevin Hart’s Golden Minds podcast, the New York  rapper revealed that he intentionally refrained from watching any episodes of the series. His reasoning behind this decision was to give the show the freedom to take creative liberties with its storyline without him feeling any negative emotions about it.

“So to see this come to fruition on screen, it was a no-brainer for me knowing how RZA works. In the beginning, it was like, ‘Wow, they’re taking a lot of liberties here with the story.’ In hindsight, knowing how some of these things work, and embellishments and sometimes dudes still be having open cases and sh*t so I could understand,” he said. “I haven’t watched an episode, personally, but I get the scripts ahead of time. Everything ain’t for everybody, that’s all I could say.”

Method continued, “I did not want to mess with their process. These people get paid to do these things — I mean you’re talking about Hulu and Imagine. Imagine, Brian Grazer. Sometimes you gotta step back and keep your opinions to yourself.”

In April, the third and final season of Wu-Tang: An American Saga concluded, marking the end of the show. The initial season premiered in September 2019, followed by the second season in September 2021. This highly praised series has received two Golden Reel Awards and RZA garnered a nomination for a Primetime Emmy in the category of Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music.
