Baller Alert caught up with Method Man at the Lexus UPTOWN Honors Hollywood event, where he opened up about prioritizing his mental and physical health, his personal growth, and his ongoing evolution in Hollywood.
The Wu-Tang legend has been vocal about his mental health journey, including past battles with depression—a topic rarely addressed by Black men in the industry. When asked about the most rewarding part of his journey, he reflected on how his self-work has inspired those around him.
“Knowing the climate that we live in today, that what I do is enough. And not only that—it inspires those around me to do enough for themselves,” he said. “If we can’t find value in ourselves, who else is going to find that value? Sometimes you just need the right push.”
As Method Man continues to evolve beyond music, fans have embraced his second act as an actor, advocate, and even a leading man in the romance genre. He acknowledged how meaningful this new phase has been.
“It’s a great second act. I have to pay a lot of respect to the female fans—my age and younger—really appreciate you guys,” he said. “But it’s all about practicing and honing your craft, and I believe I’ve done the work to get me where I am today.”
