Miami Dolphins Fire Head Coach Joe Philbin – blogged by @LoveRubyWoo

The Miami Dolphins wasted no time after Sunday’s fiasco in London to fire head coach Joe Philbin. After a 27-14 loss to the New York Jets at Wembley Stadium, which marked the team’s third straight loss this season, the Dolphins decided it was time for a change. Even if that change had to come in the middle of the NFL season. This afternoon, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross announced that they are parting ways with their head coach of four seasons.

“I want to thank Steve Ross for allowing me the privilege to serve as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins,” Philbin said in a press release. “This is a tremendous organization from top to bottom that has a talented and dedicated staff. I want to especially thank the players, coaches and football staff who have worked so unselfishly and represented the team with dignity and class. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank the incredible fan base who has supported me and my family unconditionally since day one. It is my hope that the 2015 Miami Dolphins achieve great success both on and off the field.”

Philbin had been with the team since the 2012 season, and throughout that period, the Dolphins ended with a cumulative 24-28 record and no playoff appearances. Though people had high expectations for the team this year, especially with the addition of big names like Ndamukong Suh on defense, their performance has been nothing short of disappointing so far.

Tight ends coach Dan Campbell, who is a former NFL player, will be filling in as the Dolphins’ interim head coach, effective immediately. With a 1-3 record, let’s see if he can turn this thing around for the Dolphins before it’s too late.
