Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was detained by police on Sunday morning ahead of the team’s Week 1 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
According to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, Hill was stopped due to a driving violation, although further details regarding the incident have not yet been released.
Despite the unexpected situation, Hill is expected to participate in the game as planned. Rosenhaus reassured ESPN’s Adam Schefter, stating, “I just left Tyreek, and he is getting ready to play today.”
A fan passing by also recorded the incident on video, recording Hill being handcuffed by police. The footage, which contains some explicit language, has since circulated on social media.
This marks the beginning of Hill’s third season with the Miami Dolphins. Last season, Hill played in 16 games and recorded 1,799 receiving yards along with 13 touchdowns. Known for his speed and agility, Hill remains a key player for the Dolphins’ offensive lineup.
Although the driving violation is still under investigation, it seems Hill’s focus remains on the game as he prepares to kick off the 2024 season. Fans and media alike are awaiting more information about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
