Two men are being accused of drugging, raping, and robbing a Miami spring breaker who later died in her hotel room.
Law enforcement says that 21-year-old Evoire Collier and 24-year-old Dorian Taylor, both visiting from North Carolina, supplied the unidentified 24-year-old woman with a pill. Once she was unconscious, they proceeded to rape her. Before leaving, the two men allegedly made off with the woman’s credit cards and used them while on their trip. While her name has not been released, police confirmed that she was visiting from Pennsylvania and was staying at the Albion Hotel.
According to a Miami Beach arrest report, first responders were dispatched to the hotel after the woman was found dead and “semi-nude” in the room on Thursday. Detectives obtained surveillance footage showing the two men entering the hotel room with her and leaving less than an hour later. Collier was located Saturday on Ocean Drive at Eighth Street, wearing the same pants seen in the surveillance footage. He later confessed to police that he and Taylor met the woman at a nearby eatery. Collier says that Taylor provided the girl with a “green pill” as they all walked together on Ocean Drive. He believed the pill to be Percocet. However, law enforcement is unsure if the drug was actually fentanyl or another narcotic.
Collier claims “that he went along with Taylor as they planned to have sex with the victim,” despite the young woman staggering as they walked to the hotel. Taylor had to hold the woman up while they entered the elevator.
“The defendant was holding her from behind, holding her by the neck so she could stand,” said Miami Beach Detective Luis Alsina.
Once inside the room, Collier confirmed that they both had sex with her, and Taylor forced himself on her as she lay unconscious. They proceeded to steal her cash, credit cards, and phone before leaving.
Both men used the stolen credit cards at “various locations” in Miami Beach, and Taylor was captured on video surveillance at South Beach Liquors using the stolen cards. When he was apprehended, police discovered the woman’s phone and the green pills.
“The fact that the victim was under the influence of alcohol and narcotics, she could not have consented to sex with the defendants,” the police report stated.
Both men face charges of burglary with battery, petty theft, sexual battery, and the fraudulent use of a credit card. If tests conclude that the drug played a role in her death, they could face murder or manslaughter charges. They are being held in Miami-Dade jail.
