The Dallas Cowboys drama never ends, and owner Jerry Jones kept that narrative alive heading into training camp during his media session Monday. Jones claimed that Micah Parsons missed six games last season and needed to be more available throughout the year. In reality, Parsons only missed four games.
“Just because we sign him doesn’t mean we’re going to have him,” Jones said of Parsons. “He was hurt six games last year. Seriously. I remember signing a player for the highest-paid at the position in the league, and he got knocked out two-thirds of the year — Dak Prescott.”
Parsons, during his media availability, expressed disappointment over the lack of progress in his contract negotiations.
“There’s really not much movement,” Parsons said about contract talks. “I want to be here. At the end of the day, they sign the checks. Let’s see if they want me to be here… I’m doing this for myself and my teammates. This isn’t for Jerry.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter claimed that there can’t be progress if you don’t even submit a contract to negotiate.
“You may know how the movie is going to end, but you need to start that movie,” the NFL insider Saudi this morning on ESPN’s First Take. “They haven’t even submitted a contract proposal yet to Micah Parsons. So there are no negations and so we may try to get to the end of that movie, but there’s a lot of movie to play, there are two and a half hours.”

Schefter’s analogy is on par, and with Steelers linebacker TJ Watt receiving a historic three-year $123 million extension, Parsons and his agent are looking at the market and understanding the worth that he has.
Dallas is afraid that the number that they have to pay will kill their salary cap after extending their offensive duo in wide receiver Ceedee Lamb and Dak Prescott.
