Actor Michael B. Jordan wants to break his family’s naming tradition once he has children of his own.
The “Just Mercy” star sat down on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Monday, where he detailed breaking the practice so that his kids do not feel an obligation to maintain his success.
“I am breaking that circle right there. It’s too much. The pressure I had to live up to my dad’s name, and I’m not gonna put that on my kid.” He went on to add, “I’m gonna give him his own identity. He’s gotta walk in his own shoes.”
The 34-year-old told DeGeneres that the birth of his one-year-old nephew Lennox “bought me some time” from his family pressuring him and girlfriend Lori Harvey to have children of their own.
Michael B. Jordan has no time for children as he gears up to take on directing as the next chapter of his career. Fresh off the heels of his latest film, “Without Remorse,” the actor told Trevor Noah during a separate interview that “The next challenge” is to “get behind the camera and tell a story.”
