Beloved actor Michael K. Williams has been laid to rest in a private ceremony one week after his death.
The Emmy-nominated star best known for his role as Omar in “The Wire” and Montrose Freeman in “Lovecraft Country” was celebrated at a funeral service on Tuesday in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, at Stephen’s Episcopal Cathedral. Almost 150 of his loved ones attended the service, including actress Queen Latifah and his “The Wire” co-stars Felicia Pearson and Jamie Hector.
The 54-year-old actor and dancer was found deceased in his New York home on September 6th by his concerned nephew, who went to check on him after he missed a scheduled appearance. Officials are confident that his death resulted from an overdose and are now looking for the person who sold him the illicit narcotics.
After news of his passing began to circulate, tributes poured in from fans and colleagues in the entertainment world, who all praised Williams for his stellar performances in any role he took and his tremendous love for dancing.
