Palm Beach County busted Lohan for illegal “patient brokering” through their Sober Homes Task Force. He is the 117th person busted in the sting operation since the county began cracking down on the practice.
“Mr. Lohan was investigated by our Sober Homes Task Force, and he’s being charged with receiving kickbacks for referring patients to drug treatment,” Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg said in a statement. He added, “Patient brokering corrupts our healthcare system because decisions are motivated by greed instead of a patient’s needs.”
According to the arrest warrant, Lohan’s scheme was uncovered by one of the owners of Pride Recovery Center, who agreed to cooperate with authorities against Lohan in exchange for leniency.
Lohan is facing four counts of patient brokering and one count of conspiracy.
