Michael Lohan, Lindsay Lohan’s Father, Arrested In “Patient Brokering” Scheme

Michael Lohan, the father of actress Lindsay Lohan, has been arrested for steering people to a drug rehab center in exchange for cash.

On Friday, the60-year-old was apprehended in Palm Beach County, Florida, for allegedly receiving at least $25,000 in illegal kickbacks for pushing addicts to enter Pride Recovery Center in Delray Beach between 2017 and 2018. One of the addicts was a woman identified as “B.M.” She and Lohan were having a sexual relationship when he referred her to Pride Recovery for treatment on May 4th, 2018. Lohan received a $5,000 check from the facility the same day. The checks were made out to Lohan’s company, Lola Recovery Ventures.

Palm Beach County busted Lohan for illegal “patient brokering” through their Sober Homes Task Force. He is the 117th person busted in the sting operation since the county began cracking down on the practice.

“Mr. Lohan was investigated by our Sober Homes Task Force, and he’s being charged with receiving kickbacks for referring patients to drug treatment,” Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg said in a statement. He added, “Patient brokering corrupts our healthcare system because decisions are motivated by greed instead of a patient’s needs.”

According to the arrest warrant, Lohan’s scheme was uncovered by one of the owners of Pride Recovery Center, who agreed to cooperate with authorities against Lohan in exchange for leniency.

Lohan is facing four counts of patient brokering and one count of conspiracy.
