Similar to that of Lindsey Lohan’s, Oprah’s OWN Network was interested in creating a reality docu-series for Michael Sam, the first openly gay athlete drafted in the NFL. Unfortunately, unlike Lohan, Sam has things to do and the cameras can be a distraction so the show may not be happening.
Allegedly the NFL knew about the show but the Rams did not. After Sam’s agent met with the Rams, they convinced him that the show may be a huge distraction for Sam and keep him from making the team.
Michael Sam’s agent sent out the following statement:
“After today’s meeting with the Rams, we collectively feel it is best to postpone the project. This will allow for Michael to have a total focus on football, and will ensure no distractions to his teammates.”
“Everybody involved remains committed to this project and understands its historical importance as well as its positive message.”
