Michelle Obama is paying homage to her mother, Marian Robinson, this Mother’s Day with a special exhibit at the forthcoming Obama Presidential Center.
In a video announcing the beautiful display, Mrs. Obama praised the woman who gave her “non-stop, unconditional love.” For this reason, the “Opening the White House” exhibit in the Obama Presidential Center Museum will be named in Robinson’s honor.
In addition to the display named after Robinson in the museum, OPC will feature a park, a tower with a viewing platform, an athletic facility, a fruit and vegetable garden, a playground, a branch of the city’s public library, and much more. The center is slated to open later this year. The Obamas broke ground on the site in September.
The exhibit honoring Robinson will include a replica of the East Room, where the family held big dinners and replicas of the Blue Room, where the huge Christmas tree was decorated, and much more. Every portion of the museum will be curated and inspired by Robinson.
Robinson, now 84, lived with the Obama’s during their tenure in the White House, where she was popularly known as “Grandma-in-Chief.”
