Michelle Obama wore Rihanna’s beauty line Fenty Beauty to Joe Biden’s inauguration.
Supporting Black businesses is key to excelling in the Black economy. And who doesn’t love seeing Black women loving on one another in monetary ways? That’s what we all witnessed this past Wednesday when former First Lady Michelle Obama graced our screens looking amazing, not just fashionably, but her glam was all that as well, thanks to Rih Rih’s Fenty beauty.
During a conversation with Elle Magazine, Obama’s makeup artist, Carl Ray, opened up about her inaugural look. “I wanted her to have a powerful beauty look that would need to be achieved by playing up the top half of her face,” he said, Essence reports.
Ray also shared what it was like working with Obama and her impact on our nation. “It’s such an honor,” he said. “I am humbled to be able to work with such a strong, confident, and iconic woman that is a role model to so many women everywhere. I knew that this was a monumental day for our country but particularly for women. Her entire look really was powerful, and I am so glad that people loved it.” The items he used from Fenty were Fenty Flyliner and Fenty’s Matchstix Contour.
Ray also used other Black-owned makeup companies, including Pat McGrath’s Eyedols Eye Shadow palette for Obama’s smokey eye and McGraths Permagel Eyeliner in Xtreme Black.
