Four people were killed, and an 11-year-old is in critical condition after a commuter plane crashed on an island in Lake Michigan on Saturday.
According to the Charlevoix County Sheriff’s Office, the plane went down on Beaver Island around 1:30 p.m. It is still unclear what caused the Britton-Norman BN-2A plane to crash.Â
In addition to the pilot, three other passengers were killed. Petoskey News-Review identifies the passengers as Mike Perdue, Kate Leese, and Adam Kendall. The crash also killed two dogs that were on board. The pilot was not identified.Â
Perdue’s daughter survived the crash but is listed in critical condition. According to a tweet by the Coast Guard, the child and a man were both airlifted to McLaren Hospital. The man was later pronounced dead.
The helicopter crew members landed and offered assistance and were able to hoist and transport an 11-year-old-female and a male adult to McLaren Hospital in Petoskey, MI. Chest compressions were being conducted on the 11-year-old in route to the hospital.
