Mielle Organics Founder Exposes How Influencers Were "Earning Commission" to Spread Misinformation About Brand's Products [Video]

Over the past few months, Mielle Organics has been the center of a major controversy. Allegations have circulated that the popular haircare brand has altered the formula of its products, resulting in hair loss and extreme damage.

These allegations promoted Mielle’s founder and CEO, Monique Rodriguez, to directly address the claims. In a video clip posted to her Instagram, Rodriguez confidently assured customers that no changes were made to their products, including the beloved Rosemary Mint Hair Oil, and Mielle’s partnership with Proctor & Gamble had no impact on their offerings.

“My whole family and myself are avid users of Mielle […] because we believe in the power of our products. So, when I made the decision to partner with P&G, it was driven by my vision to take Mielle to new heights and become a global beauty brand. That vision remains as strong as ever today,” Rodriguez stated at the time.

The backlash was sparked in September by influencer and beauty expert Danesha Mo’nek sharing a social media video, claiming that the oil was causing hair loss. Her criticism led to others coming forward about their bad experience with the brand. Some users and influencers even called out Rodriguez for purposely not speaking on the hair loss claims.

In light of the increasing controversy, Rodriguez has spoken out again, revealing new information on the matter. In a recent post, she shared a “very important message,” stating that her team had discovered that the original creator who made the claims against Mielle was paid by competitors to make the false allegations.

“As many of you have seen, Mielle has been buzzing in the media lately… but here’s the thing: we recently discovered that the original TikToker creator who sparked all of those rumors about Mielle products causing hair loss and falsely claiming that the Rosemary Mint Oil formula has changed, that creator has been paid by one of our competitors,” Rodriguez explained.

She continued, “This creator was earning a commission to promote a competitor’s products while spreading misinformation about our products for their own personal gain. Unfortunately, some who joined in on those conversations seemed to have ulterior motives as well.”

Additionally, Rodriguez admitted to trying to take the high road but felt “it has reached a point where I feel it’s important to be transparent with you all. So, just to let you know, the originator of those false videos has since been removed.”

Nonetheless, despite the turmoil, Rodriguez reassured customers that Mielle’s products are “safe” and “based on consistent formulas, sourcing, and processes.”
